Artists in Residence
Darwin Division of Territory Craft has an Artist in Residence Programme which is open to Craftspeople who wish to, for a time work in our well appointed studio spaces. Applications are sought from usually Territory practitioners who would like to come and work in a supportive and well resourced environment.
During their stay residents are given the opportunity to conduct craft classes whilst they work towards an exhibition that will mark the end of their stay with us.
This programme gives craftspeople the a chance to access tools, equipment and other resources that may initially be beyond their means. In addition to these more obvious benefits residents will gain experience in cooperation, goal setting and networking.
Interested people should contact our Project Officer Elizabeth Cohen.
Kath Inglis
Inspired by jewellery workshops held at Territory Craft Studio, Kath moved from Darwin to pursue a career in contemporary craft. Recent successes include a Design Associate position with the JamFactory Metal Design Studio and a Design Institute of Australia Merit Award for jewellery. This return visit, a two month residency at the Territory Craft Studio to explore the theme of memory and place.
At the completion of Kath's residency, we will be presenting an exhibition of her work at our Conacher St Gallery Objet Craft. 'Place Setting' at the Territory Craft Gallery will feature new and recent works in metal and plastic. Expect to see an experimental approach to a mix of materials including gold, silver, plastics and paint.
