Additional Information:
Throwing on the Wheel, on completion of this class students will understand the basic techniques of making pots, using a potter's wheel, slab roller or by hand building and will have made a series of small bowls and mugs that have been decorated with a glaze finish. Continuing students will be tutored according to their ability.Times: 6 weeks, Sat 1 - 4pm Clay is available during the workshop & is approx $13 per bag. Raku is the technique where pots (made from raku clay that is able to withstand thermal shock) are fired in a special raku kiln and when required temperature is reached, usually about 1000°c - 1100°c. The pots are taken out of the kiln while red hot ? with tongs and are placed in bins of combustible material to reduce or placed in water to cool. You have a finished pot within 30 mins. The pots are usually non functional, decorative rather than suitable for domestic use. Workshop conducted over 2 Saturdays. Contact the office for enrollment details.
