Mosaic WorkshopWith Karen Roberts Students will learn the technique of creating actual mosaic shapes from clay.Additional Information: You will learn how to slab roll clay and draw patterns up, which will then be cut out of the rolled clay. These pieces will be underglazed and glazed and fired. We will then incorporate broken tiles into our design to create a scene on the concrete slab outside the Territory Craft Office. The theme will be of a billabong with such things as frogs, crocodiles, lily pads and flowers. The workshop will start with individuals making a large tile or paver to take home. The workshop is designed to give the student the knowledge and expertise to design and make their own large project. Use this knowledge to brighten up the garden or pool side. There will be clay slab work, glazing, clay sculpture and conventional mosaic tile work as part of skills and knowledge gained. Time: 10 am - 4 pm Materials supplied: Students to bring tile nibbler if they have one. |
